Club De Mar Mallorca

“At Club de Mar-Mallorca, we want every member to discover their own space for sport and wellbeing”

To mark the opening of the new gym and spa facilities, we spoke with Joan Garrido, head of the Wellness Area at Club de Mar-Mallorca, to learn in detail how this new space has been designed to offer members a comprehensive experience of health, training, and relaxation.

— The new facilities are already up and running. Who are they designed for?
The Wellness Area is aimed primarily at members of Club de Mar-Mallorca, who since December 1st have been able to fully enjoy both the gym and the spa area.

The intention is to offer them an exclusive, modern space designed both for those who train daily and for those looking for a comfortable environment in which to begin physical activity or relaxation. The idea is that any member, regardless of level or experience, can find a place here where they feel supported and motivated.

— How is the gym structured?
The gym is divided into three clearly differentiated areas, designed to meet different training needs.

The first is a free-weight area with dumbbells, bars, and pulley machines, ideal for strength work, toning, and more technical exercises. The second is an area equipped with state-of-the-art machines focused on both cardio and strengthening the upper and lower body. Here, it is very easy to design complete routines without needing to move to other areas. Finally, we have a functional training zone with a cushioned artificial grass base, designed for dynamic workouts, mobility work, circuits, stretching, and more versatile sessions. It is a space that adapts to the level and goals of each user.

— Will personal training sessions be available in the new facilities?
Yes. The functional training area —with its cushioned artificial grass flooring— is especially designed for this. This space, together with the rest of the gym equipment, will allow personal training sessions for those seeking more exclusive guidance.

The goal is to offer more individualised programmes, making use of both free-weight equipment and smart machines, and to tailor each session to the specific needs of every member.

— What would you highlight about the gym’s technological equipment?
The gym is equipped with Technogym technology, a global benchmark in the fitness sector. One of the standout features of the space is the body and functional assessment machine, which analyses flexibility, strength, mobility, agility, and other key parameters to understand the user’s physical condition.

In addition, this tool incorporates an artificial intelligence system that generates personalised programmes based on individual goals —whether improving overall fitness, gaining muscle mass, losing weight, or simply staying active. The system automatically adjusts progression and offers a tailored and effective training experience.

All the gym machinery is state-of-the-art, built to high-quality standards that guarantee precision, comfort, and safety during exercise.

— What services does the spa area include?
The spa area has been designed to offer a complete experience of wellbeing and recovery. It features two rooms for body treatments, and we also offer physiotherapy and osteopathy services.

It also includes a contrast shower and a sensory shower, ideal for stimulating circulation and completing relaxation circuits. The two saunas —a dry sauna and a Turkish bath— offer different types of therapeutic heat.

The area also includes a cold-water pool and two thermal loungers designed for temperature contrast, a highly beneficial practice for muscle recovery and deep relaxation. Everything is integrated into a single space, designed to offer a complete wellness circuit.

— What other facilities and amenities does the Wellness Area offer?
In addition to the main gym and spa spaces, the facilities include a complete locker system where users can store their belongings securely.

The changing rooms, designed by Marta de la Rica, combine careful aesthetics and functionality, offering a welcoming and elegant environment with quality materials, thoughtful lighting, and a layout designed for the comfort of members.

The entire space has been conceived so that the experience —from the moment a user enters until they leave— is pleasant, practical, and consistent with the club’s quality standards.

— How do both areas come together within the wellness concept?
The idea is to create an integrated environment where body and mind find balance. The gym is the space for exercising, improving physical condition, building strength, and activating the body. The spa, on the other hand, is designed for recovery, relaxation, and personal care.

Both spaces complement each other so that members can complete a full routine in one place: train, stretch, relax, receive a treatment, or simply disconnect from daily life. This holistic vision of wellbeing is one of the foundations of the new project.

— What are the opening hours of the new facilities?
The Wellness Area is open 365 days a year, giving members great flexibility to adapt their routines to their daily lives. From Monday to Friday, opening hours are from 7:30 to 21:30, while on weekends and public holidays the space opens from 7:30 to 15:00.

It is a privilege to have facilities of this level in the new Club de Mar-Mallorca: a space designed both to train and to disconnect and take care of oneself.
