This is the first regatta the club has held since the refurbishment of its facilities
Víctor Pérez Campos and Luca Briggioni, from the Club Marítimo San Antonio de la Playa, aboard “VP Yachts”, and Stephen Butcher, from the Real Club Náutico de Palma, aboard “Tranquility of Solitude”, have been crowned champions of the 2026 Balearic Islands Championship in the Snipe and OK Dinghy classes respectively. The event concluded this Sunday in the waters of the Bay of Palma after two days of competition organised by Club de Mar-Mallorca on behalf of the Balearic Sailing Federation (FBV).
In the Snipe class, the podium was completed by Francesc Terrasa and Fernando Velarde, from the Ibiza Yacht Club and the Real Club Náutico de Palma, with “Tucho’s”, in second place, whilst third place went to Enric Noguera and Cristian Vidal, from the Club Marítimo de Mahón, aboard “PL Sails”. In addition, the Balearic Sailing Federation awarded a medal to the mixed crew of Catherine Havenga and Pablo Velarde, from the Real Club Náutico de Palma, on “Mosquito”.
Meanwhile, in the OK Dinghy class, José Luis Sastre, from the Club Marítimo de Mahón, on “Sasga”, took second place, followed by Jorge Forteza, from the Real Club Náutico de Palma, on “Mister”, who rounded off the podium in third place.
The regatta brought together a total of 30 competitors, with 18 sailors taking part in the OK Dinghy class and 12 sailors spread across six boats in the Snipe class, representing various clubs from the Balearic Islands.
On Saturday, the three scheduled races were held in challenging conditions, marked by numerous wind shifts and drops in pressure that forced the Race Committee to reposition the race course on three occasions. On Sunday, with a more stable southerly wind and gusts of up to 12 knots, a further three races were completed, thus fulfilling the six races scheduled for the championship.
“This is the first regatta the club has held since the renovation of its facilities. It is a source of great satisfaction that two historic and highly prestigious classes have been responsible for inaugurating this new sporting era,” said Manuel Nadal de Uhler, commodore of Club de Mar-Mallorca.
With this event, Club de Mar-Mallorca continues to reinforce its commitment to sailing and to organising leading competitions in the Balearic Islands, ushering in a new sporting era at its refurbished facilities.
