The event resulted in the removal of 15 cubic meters of waste from the seabed, equivalent to approximately 5,000 kilograms of objects that had fallen into the sea from the docks or been carried there by the current. This initiative, led by the Quality and Environmental Department of Club de Mar-Mallorca, aims to prevent pollution and protect the marine ecosystem.
Volunteers in the centre of the activities
A team of volunteers, comprising 12 professional divers and more than 30 people on land, including club staff and marina users, participated yesterday in the 5th Seabed Cleanup Day organized by Club de Mar-Mallorca.

The activity took place throughout the morning at the club’s facilities, specifically around docks 60 and 70, where the divers and land volunteers removed 15 cubic meters of waste from the seabed. Items such as glass bottles, tires, scrap metal, mobile devices, and more were extracted.
Pedro Barceló, Security Director of Club de Mar-Mallorca, expressed gratitude to the more than 30 volunteers who participated: “This year, we exceeded the expected number of participants. Without a doubt, this action could not take place without the volunteers, so the credit is all theirs.”
Part of the club´s environmental policies
This cleanup is part of the environmental actions conducted by the club’s Quality and Environmental Department, headed by María Miralles, with the aim of preserving and respecting the environment as well as natural resources. “The seabed cleanup seeks to prevent pollution, protect the marine ecosystem, and raise awareness about the importance of proper waste management,” Barceló explained.
The seabed cleanup is included in the environmental best practices agreement signed by Club de Mar-Mallorca and the Balearic Port Authority through its Quality, Environment, Innovation, and CSR department, led by Jorge Martín.
A fun and collaborative day
After the divers completed their work, the waste was sorted for proper disposal at the club’s green recycling point. The day concluded with a paella enjoyed by the participating volunteers.
The 5th Seabed Cleanup Day of Club de Mar-Mallorca was made possible with the collaboration of Explorextrem, SSP Underwater, Isurus, Tech Dive, Escuela de Mar, Coronet, and Tiberi Catering.
