Yesterday, Tuesday, Club de Mar-Mallorca carried out a fire drill at pier 1000, opposite the club’s new facilities, in which employees from different areas such as Reception, Events, Security, Seamanship, Maintenance, Harbour Master’s Office, Systems, and Wellness participated.
The day began with a theoretical session in the Mallorca Room, given by Global Management, where real cases of fires in ports were reviewed and questions from participating staff were answered.
After the initial training, the team moved to the aforementioned pier to practice extinguishing fires with fire extinguishers and review communication protocols in the event of a “Code 1” activation.
The operational drill was activated shortly after 1 p.m., when the new Security Coordination Center (CECOR), located on the pedestrian access walkways—where all incidents at the facilities are monitored and managed—reported smoke in the area. In less than two minutes, internal teams had been mobilized and the fire department and 112 had been notified. The marine and maintenance teams moved the motor pump and removed nearby boats to prevent damage.
After the fire department arrived, a second source of smoke was detected in the hangar. Once it had been extinguished, a search began for a worker who was simulated as missing, who was located a minute later.
The day ended with new instructions for staff on how to respond to marine spills, thereby reinforcing the preparedness of Club de Mar-Mallorca’s staff for real emergencies.
