Club de Mar-Mallorca raises €4,928 for Fundación Almas Marinas

The funds raised during the XXX Regata Illes Balears Clàssics will enable schoolchildren from Mallorca to take part in an educational day at sea. The activity aims to promote knowledge, respect and conservation of marine ecosystems.

Club de Mar-Mallorca has donated €4,928 to the Fundación Almas Marinas, an amount raised during the XXX Regata Illes Balears Clàssics held last August.

The donation ceremony took place on board the Falcao Uno, the vessel where the foundation carries out most of its environmental activities. Attending the event were José Luis Arrom, General Director of Club de Mar-Mallorca; María Miralles, Head of the Quality and Environment Department of Club de Mar-Mallorca; and, representing Fundación Almas Marinas, its President Carlos Samblas and Director Pilar Carretero.

Samblas explained that “the funds raised will be used to enable students from different schools in Mallorca to enjoy a day at sea, learning first-hand about marine ecosystems and the sustainable use of plastics. They will also learn various types of nautical knots and basic sailing skills.”

Fundación Almas Marinas is a non-profit organisation dedicated to environmental awareness and education, working to protect the marine environment from all sources of pollution. Since its inception, it has promoted educational programmes and outreach activities aimed at encouraging knowledge and respect for the sea among younger generations.

“The environmental education is essential to understand the threats and impacts our seas are facing. That is why, at Club de Mar-Mallorca, we continuously support organisations that work actively to protect the marine environment and raise public awareness,” said Miralles during the event.

The €4,928 was raised from beverage sales during the 30th anniversary of the Regata Illes Balears Clàssics. With this initiative, Club de Mar-Mallorca reaffirms its commitment to sustainability, social responsibility, and the protection of the environment.
