More than 30 children participated in the activity, which marks the beginning of a new era for the Sports Area.
Club de Mar-Mallorca presented its revamped Winter Sailing School with an open day that brought together more than 30 children. The event, held on September 27 and 28, gave young people the opportunity to learn about sailing, see the club’s new sports facilities, and enjoy a trip out to sea.
The open day began at 10 a.m. with a welcome to the participants and a presentation of the new Sailing School project, which aims to train future sailors and rebuild the club’s sailing competition teams after years of inactivity due to the renovation of the facilities.
After the explanation and a guided tour of the new facilities, which include modern areas dedicated exclusively to the sailing school and a children’s pool, the children went out sailing in groups organized by level of experience. The activity ended at around 1:30 p.m. with refreshments shared by all attendees.
Courses from October to June for all levels
The regular courses at the Winter Sailing School will begin on October 4 and 5, running on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and are aimed at boys and girls aged between 7 and 15. The offer includes Beginner, Advanced, and Regatta programs, with a varied fleet consisting of Gamba (collective boat), Omega Topaz, RS Zest, Laser Picos, Europis, Optimists, and ILCA.
“The Sailing School is a firm commitment by the club to bring the sea closer to new generations. We want children to learn to sail, but also to experience sailing as a team sport, a space for values, and a school of life,“ explained Gonzalo Roig Maura, sports activities coordinator at Club de Mar-Mallorca, who emphasized that ”We are very pleased with the reception of this open day and are excited about the start of the new sailing school.”
With this initiative, Club de Mar-Mallorca reaffirms its commitment to promoting grassroots water sports and opens a new chapter for its pool of young sailors.
