Club de Mar hosts the Balearic Sea Kayaking Championships

The competition, with 150 paddlers from Mallorca, Menorca and Ibiza, will be held on the 27th of May.

Club de Mar Mallorca will crown the next Balearic sea kayaking champion in the upcoming Balearic Sea Kayaking Championship on the 27th of May in collaboration with the Balearic Canoeing Federation.

More than 150 paddlers from almost all the clubs in the Balearic Islands will take part in the competition to decide the winner in the discipline in the different categories.

The races will take place in the morning on Saturday, 27th May. On the one hand, the children will cover a three-thousand-metre course, while the rest of the categories will have to complete a distance of eight kilometres, starting at the Western Dock of the port of Palma (Dique del Oeste), heading west to Illetes and returning to the starting point, which will be also the finishing line.

The facilities at the Can Barbarà dock, the headquarters of the canoeing section of Club de Mar Mallorca, will serve as the logistics centre for the competition. The paddlers will launch their boats there to make their way to the starting line. The best sea kayaking specialists in the Balearic Islands will gather there to fight for the top spot on the podium.

Club de Mar Mallorca thus returns to organising of sporting competitions, which have been on hold due to the comprehensive refurbishment of its facilities. In the words of the sports activities coordinator of the Club de Mar, Gonzalo Roig: “We are making a great effort to bring some competitions to the club, despite the fact that we are still immersed in the renovation works. We believe that this championship will be a great opportunity to bring the club back as a venue for these competitions”.
