The sailing team prepares for the season with a new coach

Joan Rodríguez is the new coach of the group that debuts in competition this weekend in Menorca.

The sailing season begins and this time the Club de Mar Mallorca does so with a new coach who will be responsible for training the new sailors.  He will accompany them in training and competitions with the aim of forming great sailors to represent the club in the various regattas that take place during the year.

Joan Rodríguez has already trained as a sailor in our club and now the club has decided to reinforce its technical staff with him as a coach. His work this year will focus on the ILCA 4, formerly known as Laser 4.7. Six sailors make up this year’s ILCA team, four boys and two girls.

“All of them are very young, this is a project that we are starting now with a view to the future,” says the new coach of the Club de Mar Mallorca. The young sailors of the sailing team train three hours on Friday afternoons and four hours on Saturdays and Sundays. “This season they have to gain a lot of self-confidence. It is important that they start to change their mentality and little by little they will improve”, says Joan Rodríguez.

The first test of the season will be next weekend. From the 3rd to the 6th of December, the Illes Balears ILCA Trophy will be held in Menorca, at the Club Marítimo de Mahon. Two of the club’s sailors will compete in the regatta in search of the sensations of the first competition of the year. Alessandro Cuadrado and Daniel Llinás will travel to Menorca along with Joan Rodríguez to try to get a good position in a race in which the best ILCA of the Islands will participate.
