The organising clubs meet at the RCN Barcelona to analyse this year’s circuit.
The regatta Vela Clásica Costa Brava, organised by the CN Estartit, is the new addition to this year’s edition of the Trofeo Clásicos Mare Nostrum, the Spanish Classic Sailing Circuit, thus adding a fifth event to the circuit.
The news was confirmed after a meeting on the 23rd of May at the RCN Barcelona between the clubs organising the classic yacht circuit. The meeting was attended by representatives of the RCN Barcelona, Club de Mar-Mallorca and Club Náutico Puerto Sherry, with Club Marítimo de Mahón not being able to attend due to last minute difficulties.
Andrés de León, recently appointed Vice President of the International Mediterranean Committee (CIM), explained the new plans of this body, which include changes in the measurement system and the recovery of an international Mediterranean circuit, in which the Spanish clubs will be involved.
On the other hand, the Notice of Race for the 2022 edition of the Circuit was formally approved. After the incorporation of the fifth race in Estartit, the participants will have the obligation to score in three of the races in order to qualify.
The RANC has confirmed that it will donate, as in previous years, the trophies to the winners which, on this occasion, will include an absolute winner. Finally, it was agreed that, in principle, the presentation of trophies will be held in Mahón on the occasion of the last regatta of the circuit, the Copa del Rey de Barcos de Epoca.
