Luis Albert Solana’s Patakin has succesfully opened the J70 Italian circuit, with the first race last weekend. The Majorcan yacht, with Club de Mar flag, was the only Spanish representative in a race that gathered 28 teams from 9 countries.

The victory in this first round went to the crew lead by Mauro Roversi onboard J-Curve. The silver medal went to Notaro Team of Luca Domenici and Viva of Alessandro Molla ended up third thanks to her solid performance on the last day of races.

But there was a yacht that stood out at the end of the competition, and it was Patakin. Luis Albert’s yacht scored a victory in the last two sets and climbed up to the seventh position in the final ranking. They were awarded with the “J70 of the day” title that day.

In this event, the Club de Mar yacht crew was completed with the Portuguese olympic regatta sailor Afonso Domingo, the Slovenian Karlo Hmeljak and Brazilian Phillip Kemp.

The Spanish team is planning on participating in more races of this competitive J70 Italina circuit between October and November in the waters of Malcesine and San Remo.

The Patakin’s crew goal is to gain experience in the big fleet regattas and prepare for Spain’s next J70 season, a clear up and coming category that will surely be one of the new features of the next 2021 Copa del Rey Mapfre.
