I have lots of experience driving tenders as a commercial PB instructor having delivered over 40 Powerboat Level 2 courses since I qualified. Last season I crewed 12m 600hp RIB wildlife tours around the extremely tidal St David’s head. Over the winter, I have gained my RYA Yachtmaster Coastal commercial endorsement, Advanced Powerboat commercial endorsements, STCW with security, ENG1, RYA Marine radio SRC and PPR to allow me to be the responsible person onboard a vessel.
In both these roles I was either working closely with my customers, either building rapport to take beginner boaters to competant ones and have fun doing it, bespoke to their background; or I was delivering tours to the whole range of clientele in British tourism regarding the history and wildlife of our coastline – although I was Crew in this role, I did helm the vessel but I couldn’t be the responsible person onboard, which showed me the next step in my career and so gained my commercial endorsements and STCW this winter.
Since then I’ve looked into opportunities using my qualifications further afield and I think that my skill set allows me to transfer to larger vessels with ease. I have experience maintaining Yachts and my own boats and know how to work in a marina and at sea.
