Club de Mar collects more than 10 tones of waste from the port underwater ground
Successful second day of port underwater ground cleaning with the participation of more than 50 volunteers and the collaboration of Coca Cola.
Club de Mar has celebrated one more year, on the past November 4, the second day of port underwater ground cleaning, which resulted in the collection of more than 10 tones of waste that has been accumulating over the past years on the underwater port ground. Amoung the waste items, the volunteers found a shopping trolley, batteries, ropes and bottles, among other things.

During the morning the divers have located a dinghy and a fiber boat that had ended up underwater. Both have been picked up with the help of a crane.

Jose Manuel Pérez, Head of Security and Environment at Club de Mar, said this activity helps to "raise awareness among the Club users" about the importance of keeping our port clean. In this second edition, Pérez highlighted the participation of "mums and dads with their kids" as well as members of the Joves Navegants Foundation. "There were more people and we collected more waste, it was a great day", he added.

At the end of the activity, the voulunteers and Club staff enjoyed together a paella and some beverages, courtesy of Coca Cola, collaborators of this environmental action.

The waste, as explained by Pérez, will be later sorted and delivered to authorized waste managers for a correct reciclying.
