Banco Santander donates 5,000 euros to Joves Navegants
More than 2,000 young people at risk of social exclusion have participated in some of the foundation's programs since 1992.
The Banco Santander Foundation made this morning at the Club de Mar Mallorca a donation of 5,000 euros to Joves Navegants, an amount to be used in the maintenance of the vessel Galaxie, aimed to educate young people from the Balearic Islands at risk of social exclusion.

The delivery was carried out on the docks of the Club de Mar, where the Galaxie is based, and was attended by the president of the Banco Santander Foundation, Antonio Escámez; the director of the Foundation, Borja Baselga; Patricia Bullock, vice president of the Fundació de Joves Navegants; and the vocal of Fundació, Darren Sisk, among others.

This action is carried out through the Santander Ayuda program, whose aim is to contribute to the progress of individuals and companies. Joves Navegants was founded in 1992 to try to change the lives of disadvantaged young people through nautical and through contact with the sea.

Patricia Bullock, vice president of the association, has announced that the Fundació de Joves Navegants is planning this year to resume its participation in the Ruta de la Sal with a crew formed by young people at risk of social exclusion, taking advantage of the fact that one of the versions of the regatta will depart from Mallorca.

More than 2,000 young people from the Balearic Islands have participated in some of the programs of the Fundació de Joves Navegants in its 25 years of existence. Patricia Bullock explained that they work with youngsters between 12 and 20 years, although "lately we are focusing on training programs for young people from 16 or 18 years."

The vice-president of Joves Navegants has assured that its aim is "to arouse the interest of the young people for the sea and that they learn to work in teams so that soon they can be formed and to obtain a position in the nautical sector".
