Manuel Nadal, appointed vice-president at the Sail Training Association
In the recent General Assembly held in Madrid, Manuel Nadal de Uhler, Commodore in Club de Mar-Mallorca, was appointed vice-president of the STA Spain (Sail Training Association).
In this meeting, Iñaki Hornes, from the 'Juan de Lángara' Association, headquartered in La Coruña, was appointed president.

The STA Spain's goal is to promote sailing among youngsters, as an educational tool for them. This entity holds various associations in Spain dedicated to these activities and encourages as well regattas for the so called Tall Ships or Big Boats, as a member of the STI or the STA.

One of the biggest examples in the STA in the Balearic Islands is the 'Joves Navegants' foundation, an entity created in 2003 aimed to favour the social integration for youngsters through sailing.

Additionally, the STI has recently announced its intention of celebrating in 2018 a regatta circuit for Big Boats in the west Mediterranean, in which a Balearic marina will probably be included, such as Mahon or Palma de Mallorca.

Precisely Palma held a regatta like this, the 'Cutty Shark', in 1996. The first Big Boat regatta took place in 1956 and the last, which sailed the waters of Norway with a fleet of 63 vessels, in 2006.
